And the Winners are...
Chłopcy kontra Basia, a Polish trio, intent on taking the country's traditional music to new levels. Their winning song, 'Jerzy' is a virtuoso performance of a new type of Polish traditional music, and will appear on the forthcoming album The Rough Guide To Undiscovered World.

Chłopcy Kontra Basia
Chłopcy Kontra Basia is a fresh and absolutely surprising collaboration. Taking their inspiration from traditional Polish musics, their compositions include traditional rhythms, melodies, harmonic progressions that are absolutely characterstic to Polish music. For instance, they often include the traditional mazurka, oberek or kujawiak musical forms. Nevertheless, the lyrics reflect Basia's interpretation of traditional rural songs and poems that elude to a lost generation; a time of old believers, legends, fairy tales and magic spells.
The overall feel of the trio is particularly exuberant: virtuoso performances are met with a heavy folk, jazz and drum and bass influence that embeds the group in modern day musical contexts. Chłopcy Kontra Basia are an exciting group to unveil - and definitely one to keep your eye on.
The winners have been announced, but the battle still goes on and the competition has reopened - apply here for the next round!
