The Cambodian Space Project: Brixton
The Windmill Brixton, Friday 27 July - Doors 8pm
It's hard to encapsulate exactly what The Cambodian Space Project sound like - it's exciting, trippy, woozy, other-worldly! In fact the band describe it best themselves, as they explain the band is a 'cosmic cross-culture rendezvous featuring space trippers from various planets'! Their sizzling sound revives the 'golden age' of 1960s Cambodian pop, an influence which has inspired them to write their own Khmer psychedelic rock. Expect heavy guitar lines and thumping drums anchored underneath lead-singer Srey Trey's perfectly strident voice.
For the last three years the band have been circling the globe, spreading their unique sound far and wide and on Friday 27 July they will land in Brixton to launch their new album on freshly pressed black vinyl. The Windmill is the perfect setting for the gig - small and intimate yet perfect for hosting all types of mad, bad and wild parties. If you are in London this weekend this gig comes highly recommended, and it only costs a fiver with good quality music ensured! See you on the dancefloor.
