Spam Allstars are Miami's hardest-working Latin band. Spam music, grounded in Latin funk, mixes horns, improvisational electronic elements and turntables with hip-hop and dub, adding touches of Pythonesque humour. Compiled by DJ Bongohead for your dancing pleasure.
Spam Allstars was formed by Andrew Yeomanson, also known as DJ Le Spam. In 2002 Spam Allstars began a weekly residency at Hoy Come Ayer in Little Havana, FL. In 2003 they started monthly residencies in New York City, Gainesville, Tampa, Atlanta and New Orleans. They still have weekly residencies in Little Havana and monthly residencies in Miami and Miami Beach. Today they perform more than 200 shows averaging 56,000 miles a year.
DJ Le Spam was born in Montreal to an English father and a Venezuelan mother. In his youth he moved to London, Tampa, Bogota, Toronto and Miami, the latter he calls home. His international homes have contributed to his musical career and his exploration of all types of music.

'DJ Le Spam & Spam Allstars blend improvisational electronic elements and turntables with latin, funk, hip hop and dub to create what they call an electronic descarga. It’s not a known genre. It’s hard to describe. It attracts many types of people. But as they look out and see people dancing salsa, next to break-dancers, and festival-goers driving for hours to catch a show - they know something very special is going on.'
