The name Monoswezi is an appropriate name considering the group is a collective of musicians originally from Mozambique, Norway, Sweden and Zimbabwe.  It is made up of several different instruments including voice, mbira, percussion, clarinet, saxophone, bass and drums. The mbira is considered as the national instrument of Zimbabwe played by the Shona people for a thousand years. Their music is influenced by jazz and modern Western music as well as being rooted in traditional African music from Zimbabwe and Mozambique.

Stay tuned for more information on Monoswezi's forthcoming album on Riverboat Records in 2013. Check out our album The Rough Guide To Undiscovered World.

The Rough Guide To Undiscovered WorldThe Rough Guide To Undiscovered World features 'Hondo' by Monoswezi ( track 9).

This excellently eccentric Rough Guide is a whistle-stop tour of wild world music. The majority of music here is previously un-released, so you won’t hear this anywhere else, and it’s not worth missing. Enjoy everything from a trio of Romanian harmonica enthusiasts to a Zimbabwean-Brazilian jazz project, and more.
