'Pandit (master) Debashish Bhattacharya is one of the world's most remarkable slide guitarists and this album represents the culmination of a lifetime of intensive study, performance and innovation.' Songlines Magazine

India’s Debashish Bhattacharya started learning Indian music from an early age, before he learnt the alphabet! During his childhood he mastered several Indian classical instrumental styles as well as vocal music from teachers in Calcutta. He became a disciple and student of Brij Bhushan Khabra, the father of Indian classical guitar and also trained under Ajoy Chakraborty and Ali Akbar Khan.

His debut performance was at the age of four which was broadcast by All India Radio, Calcutta. At the age of twenty he received President of India Award for winning the National Music Competition of All India Radio. Since then his achievements have expanded and his charisma as a musician, composer, innovator, revolutionary and guru of the slide guitar Parivar has caught the attention of many devotees.

He is a powerful slide guitarist setting new trends among fellow musicians. He has introduced new finger styles playing with his thumb and index finger. The reason for him altering his playing style was to produce finest bole variety, fastest Taanas, and strongest Jhala which were impossible to achieve on slide guitars earlier. He has written a syllabus on Indian Classical Guitar which includes technical terminologies and abbreviations.
