This weekend I zipped down to Somerset for the Cloud Cuckoo Land festival. The small community focused performing arts festival takes place in the picturesque Mendip Hills, nestled behind Cheddar's famous and stunning gorge. One of the highlights of the weekend was catching The Magic Drum Orchestra parading around the site. A sprawling ensemble of all different types of drums and handheld percussion, the energetic group played tight samba and Afro-Brazilian rhythms perfectly. The battery of drums attracted a large crowd who were keen to dance despite the mud beneath their wellies. As well as playing live, The Magic Drum Orchestra hold workshops and offer drum tuition and therapy. Here is a clip of them in action:
