New Releases: Introducing Kolpakov Duo & The Rough Guide to Howlin' Wolf
Today sees the release of two new World Music Network albums, Introducing Kolpakov Duo, The Rough Guide to Blues Legends: Howlin' Wolf and Alhousseini Anivolla: Anewal/The Walking Man.
Introducing Kolpakov Duo
Introducing Kolpakov Duo is the work of uncle and nephew duo, Alexander and Vadim. Between them they produce vigorous Russian-gypsy guitar music. The pair are respected on the local scene, and made headlines in 2008 when they performed as part of Madonna’s ‘Sticky & Sweet’ tour. Revel in the layered textures of glittering gypsy-guitars, and uncover the wonderful Russian Romany culture with this striking digital release.
The Kolpakov Duo have toured extensively, and were recruited by none other than Madonna to accompany her on tour after performing for her previously at her 2007 birthday party. The global tour took Kolpakov all over the world, an experience which both musicians treasure.
The Rough Guide to Blues Legends: Howlin' Wolf
The Rough Guide to Blues Legends: Howlin' Wolf features Howlin’ Wolf’s best and baddest electric blues. The sound quality is premium, and each track has been carefully re-mastered to illuminate Wolf’s growling voice, hollering harmonica and gutsy guitar in never before heard definition.
Howlin' Wolf was a three-hundred pound giant with a voice so powerful it sounds as if it could knock down buildings! He dominated the post-war Chicago blues scene in every way. Enjoy some of his most ferocious and emotionally intense work on this outstanding Rough Guide, which has been painstakingly re-mastered and restored to world class sound quality.
Alhousseini Anivolla: Anewal/The Walking Man
