1% For the Planet Banner

Over the last 25 years, since the inception of Riverboat Records, World Music Network has become renowned as an organisation that is consistent and devoted in its work in producing quality content within the sphere of the world music scene, introducing the international artist and the global audience to one another. Like any organisation, big or small, the work we do has an impact on the world to which we owe the fruits of our labour.

We hold a simple belief in sharing the common responsibility to do what can be done to acknowledge and address the impact our work has on a wider scale. The latest in a long line of such efforts by World Music Network has been to join the 1% for the Planet initiative, pledging to commit 1% of World Music Network’s annual turnover to its sustainability efforts.

'1% for the Planet connects businesses, consumers, and nonprofits, empowering all of us to drive big, positive change.'

The funds we donate are destined to support a range of non-profit organisations dedicated to sustainability, ranging from issues as broad wildlife conservation, to environmental education, to marine sustainability and more. Our involvement with this project means customers can be reassured that a purchase of one of albums are an investment in the future. We can only hope that our commitment to the 1% for the Planet scheme might just inspire other businesses and individuals to join us, and over 1,200 companies in 48 countries, in sharing this responsibility in reducing the harmful effects our global society has on our planet.

'All business activity has an affect on the environment - we do what we can to reduce our footprint, but we still have an impact. Joining 1% for the Planet is part of an ongoing programme, which holds the simple aim of reducing the harm that we still cause. It’s our way of acknowledging the environmental impact of our work.'
