While qawwali, the ancient Sufi song style popularized by Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan, has overtaken almost every other kind of Pakistani music in terms of popularity and exportability, there are a great many other significant styles. The country is justifiably proud of its many outstanding ghazal singers, with film and pop music also playing key roles in modern Pakistani music.
